On Monday 4th grade students had a guest speaker, Mr. Walden, come to speak to them about the Revolutionary War and show them what things looked like in that time period.

1, 2, 3, 4 we declare a penny war! Mr. Chapman and Mrs. Holder are in a war to see who is going to be covered in silly string! Bring your pennies in and place them in the bucket of who you want to see covered in silly string! Buckets are in the atrium and you have until Friday, November 11 to bring in your coins. All proceeds are going to United Way. This is a great nonprofit organization that helps with funding of so many amazing programs in our district (Camp I-Rock, toddler time, etc.).

DES is thankful for our students and their families! You still have time to purchase a Turkey gram for your cute Turkey to tell them how thankful you are for them. Turkey grams are $1 and will be delivered to your child next week. Last day to purchase is this Friday, November 11. There are blank slips located in the front office. You can also send it in your child’s folder in a labeled envelope. All proceeds are going to United Way. This is a great nonprofit organization that helps with funding of so many amazing programs in our district (Camp I-Rock, toddler time, etc.)

Amazing blessing! Crossroads Baptist Church dropped off snacks for PreK for the month of November! We are thankful for our community and all the things they do for us!

2nd grade had a special visitor today for Halloween!

Congratulations to Miss Cummings who was recognized last Friday as Pizza Inn’s Teacher of the Month for DES for going above and beyond as a leader of the district’s 4K programs, serving as our United Way Team Captain, supporting other preschool teacher at DES, and stepping up to help other classrooms when there was need. Way to go Caitlin!
