South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson Visits Gateway to Innovation
Gateway to Innovation welcomed South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson for a visit to learn more about the vision, progress, and future impact of G2i.
During the visit, Attorney General Wilson had the opportunity to hear about the innovative work taking place through Gateway to Innovation and the role it will play in expanding career-connected learning for students across the School District of Pickens County. The visit also highlighted how G2i is designed to support workforce development, strengthen connections between education and industry, provide employee childcare, and create expanded learning opportunities for adult learners.
SDPC School Board Members Shannon Haskett, Betty Garrison, and Karla Kelley also joined the visit, along with several community members and members of the G2i staff.
Gateway to Innovation is more than a local project. It represents a forward-thinking approach to education and workforce development that could impact communities across South Carolina. By exposing students to career pathways earlier and connecting classroom learning to real-world opportunities, G2i is being designed to help prepare students for success in the workforce of tomorrow.
“We are grateful to Attorney General Wilson for taking the time to visit Gateway to Innovation and learn more about the vision behind this project,” said Tim Johnson, Director of Gateway to Innovation. “G2i is about creating opportunities for students, supporting families, and helping build a stronger workforce for Pickens County and South Carolina.”
As construction continues, excitement continues to build around the future of Gateway to Innovation and the opportunities it will create for students, families, employees, workforce partners, and the broader community.
Gateway to Innovation is scheduled to open in January 2027.
