SD Ready and SCPASS

Recently, the South Carolina Department of Education released the results of the South Carolina Palmetto Assessment of State Standards (SCPASS) and  South Carolina College - and Career Ready Assessments (SC READY) from the 2021-2022 school year. The data for the School District of Pickens County (SDPC) shows that the work to make up for unfinished learning from the previous school years is yielding very positive results, particularly in these areas:

  • SDPC exceeds the statewide average in all grades (3-8) in ELA, Math, and Science.

  • Of 14 categories (Grades 3-8 ELA, Grades 3-8, Math, Grade 4 and 6 Science), SDPC made gains over 2020-2021 results in 12 of the 14 categories for students scoring Met or Exemplary.

  • ELA scores have exceeded the pre-pandemic levels in grades 5, 6, 7, and 8.

  • Math and Science scores have increased in grades in 3, 4, 5, and 6.

“While we are very pleased that our students have outperformed the state average on all fronts, we will always strive for continuous improvement as we seek to offer the best possible outcomes for the students of Pickens County,” said School District of Pickens County Superintendent Dr. Danny Merck. “These results show that we are on track to return to the pre-pandemic achievement levels. We celebrate our teachers and instructional leaders for their dedication to providing an outstanding instructional experience for our students.“
